Obituary for Verna S. Hess
Verna S. Hess, 90, of Chambersburg, PA died December 30, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.
Born May 19, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Clifford H. and Amy (Shatzer) Snyder.
Verna was a 1949 graduate of Saint Thomas Township High School, St. Thomas, PA. She was employed for 35 years as a seamstress at Stanley Company, Chambersburg.
She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed the outdoors and yard work.
Verna was a member of the Edenville United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar P. Hess, Sr., who died November 9, 1981, a daughter, Paula Hess, and a sister, Geraldine Bernecker.
Surviving family include a son, Edgar P. (Ed) Hess, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Fort Loudon, PA, two grandsons, three great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. Two sisters, Mrs. Grover (Romaine) Hess of Warfordsburg, PA and Mrs. Glen (Kay) Shatzer of Edenville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:00 PM Friday January 7, 2022 in Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, PA with Pastor Summer Love Bair officiating. Burial will be in Saint Thomas Cemetery.
Viewing one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
