Obituary for Rowena Snider
Rowena A. Snider, 86, of Mercersburg, passed away on April 12, 2022 at the Brookview Health Center in Chambersburg.
Born December 4, 1935 in Mercersburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Brinton B. and Mary Crist Auman.
Rowena graduated from Mercersburg High School in 1953 and married Terrence Smith in 1954. Rowena lived in various parts of the country will her husband was employed by FAA. In her early years, she worked at Jack McLaughlin’s Drug Store, a secretary at Wilson College, and also a dental assistant. On May 27, 2000 she married John N. Snider Jr.
Rowena was a former member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Mercersburg.
Rowena is survived by her husband, John N. Snider Jr., daughter, Kimberly and husband Doc Blair, son Craig and wife Stacy Smith, step-son Ty Snider and wife Sheila, grandchildren, Ian and Tate Smith, Jason Thomas, and 1 great-grandchild Lincoln Thomas, step-grandchildren Aaron and Amanda Snider, and sisters Doris Mills and Nancy Taylor.
Rowena was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence Smith (1986), and a sister, Norma Baer.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday April 18, 2022 at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg, with Reverend Michael Baughman officiating. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the service and burial will take place at Parklawn’s Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
