Obituary for Ronald P Face Jr.

Ronald P. Face, Jr., 81, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, passed away on May 29, 2022.

Born August 24, 1940, in Hudson, NY, he was a son of the late Ronald P. Sr. and Dorothy (Smith) Face.

Ron was a graduate of Ichabod Crane High School, Valatie, NY. He entered the U.S. Army on June 30, 1958 and retired as a Decorated Major on June 30, 1978 . From 1978 to 1982, he was the Assistant Director of Public Safety in Mexico, MO. He was later employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, holding several positions. He was appointed the Division Director to the United States Fire Administration’s Management Operations and Support Services Division in March of 1988, where he served until his retirement. He retired October 1, 2013, after 30 years and 3 months of service. His love for his country showed in his life long service to and for it.

During most of his adult life, Ron was an active volunteer in fire police and rescue. He spent the past several years volunteering in the Emmitsburg and Blue Ridge Summit areas.

Ron was a member of F & AM Acacia Lodge #586, Waynesboro, PA; Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg, PA; a life member of VFW #6658, Emmitsburg, MD; American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro; Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue Company #4; and many other organizations.

Surviving family include his wife, Doris A. (Zeger) Face, whom he married June 20, 1986; four children, Ronald P. III, (Felicia) Face, Clarksville, TN, Gary L. (Leigh) Face, Chambersburg, PA, Merle E. Jr. (Beverly) Pine and Suzanne (Brad) Dukehart, both of Mercersburg, PA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, Alan (Carol) Face, Leesburg, FL; two sisters, Phyllis (Tyler) Shafer, Valatie, NY, and Sharon (Don) Bartel, Old Forge, NY.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his stepmother, Eileen Face; daughter, Maryann Face; and three siblings, Richard, Russell, and Barbara.

A memorial service will be held June 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, PA, with Pastor Rob Gunkleman officiating. Family will begin receiving friends at 10 a.m.
