Obituary for Robert P. Foust

Robert (Bob) P. Foust, 85, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on June 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 30, 1936, in Windber, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Freda (Frye) Foust.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
He was a resident of Greencastle. PA, for many years, where he raised his four daughters.
Bob retired from Mack Trucks, Inc., Hagerstown, MD after 31 ½ years as a machinist. After retiring he and his wife Patricia moved to Needmore, PA. He was proud to both drive a school bus for Donald Leese Bus Contractor and Head Start of Fulton County. He and his wife Patricia (Ferguson) Foust owned and operated an ice cream shop called “Patsy’s Place” on their property in Needmore.

He was an active member and union steward of UAW #171, life member of VFW #6139, Greencastle, member of the American Legion #612, St. Thomas, and Moose Lodge #1790, Mercersburg.

Bob enjoyed playing and coaching softball and was instrumental in organizing the Greencastle Girls Softball Little League. He was an avid Pittsburg Steeler and Pirate fan. He built two homes for his family and could fix just about anything.

Surviving family include three daughters, Kristene (Scott) Edwards of Covington, LA, Kelly (Jody) Shatzer of Chambersburg, Pa, and Karla (Scott) Hammer of Greencastle, PA, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and three siblings, Edward Foust, Hagerstown, MD, Shirley Deyarmin, Windber, PA, Mary Manges, Johnstown, PA. He is also survived by the children of his second wife Lillian; Julie R. (Paul) Keefer, Judy K. Murray both of Mercersburg, PA, Susan B. (Greg) Rockwell of Chambersburg, PA and J. Phillip Ott Jr. of Greencastle, PA. and their families.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Ferguson) Foust (July 27, 2007), daughter, Kathy Foust (June 2016), his second wife, Lillian R. (Shaffer) Ott-Foust (December 11, 2020), and siblings, George Foust, Alice Cook, Ethel Figard, Richard Foust, LaRue Price, Frances Harclerode, and John Roy Foust.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 in Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg
