Obituary for Richard Reeder

Richard E. Reeder, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his home.

Born July 6, 1940 in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Paul E. and M. Lucille (Stine) Reeder.

Richard graduated in 1958 from James Buchanan High School and lettered in soccer, baseball, and basketball. He played baseball for Fort Loudon as a catcher in the Buchanan and Franklin County League. In 1963, he completed 6200 hours in Machine and Engineering Trade School at Landis Tool in Waynesboro, PA. Richard enjoyed family outings, especially in Wildwood, NJ. He also enjoyed bowling and participated in many leagues at Nellie Fox Bowl and Lincoln Lanes. In 1985, he founded Parnell Supply Company with his late wife, Doris J. “Dee” Reeder. In 2005 he received a Real Estate License and worked for Jack Gaughen and Keller Williams for 14 years. He loved his family dearly.

Richard was an active member in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Lemasters, PA , he was the current treasurer, and former deacon, and on the consistory.

Richard is survived by his wife Lorraine (Elliott) Reeder and a daughter, Sherry Reeder, and son, Gary Reeder, a former wife, Mary Peck, and step-children, Jeffrey (Andrea) Rhine of St. Petersburg, FL, Greg (Melissa) Elliott and Steve (Jill) Elliott. Surviving grandchildren include, Chasity Reeder (Chris Pedrick), Amber Reeder, Brieanna Reeder Baker, and step-grandchildren Jessica Miller, Bethany, Elissa, Lauren, Danielle, Garret, Kristianna, Tanner, and Tyler Elliott. Great-grandchildren include, Allilah, Kinley, Zailey, Weston, Mackenzie, Zayah, and Caleb.

Richard is preceded in death by his late wife, Doris J. “Dee” (Frey) Reeder and grandsons Zach Harbel and Derick Reeder.

Per Richard’s request, there will be no service. A gathering and celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at St Paul's United Church of Christ in Lemasters, PA. 4822 Steele Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franklin County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 269 Chambersburg ,PA 17201.
