Nellie L. Breakall, 85, of Mercersburg, PA died January 22, 2022.
Born March 24, 1936 in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Chester C. and Frances E. (Fritz) Bricker.
Nellie attended the Lafayette School in Montgomery Township. She was a former employee of Mercersburg Tannery and Franklin County Career Center.
Nellie was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a wonderful example of strength, perseverance, and independence. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and was known for hosting the best sleep overs, filled with an abundance of sweet treats and endless laughs. Every visit with grandma was a treasured memory, and no one ever left hungry. In addition, to the grandkids, she delighted in spoiling her beloved dog, Willie. Nellie appreciated any opportunity to share proud accomplishments of everyone in her family and had an uncanny ability to remember very birthday. Nellie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen providing delicious meals and desserts for her family. During retirement, she relished the opportunity to share her knowledge with students in the culinary program at the Franklin County Career Center. She was also talented in gardening with an unbelievable ability to abundantly grow any plant or flower she touched.
Nellie was preceded in death by husband, Clair Hampton, two daughters in laws, Melody Bradnick and Bonnie Bradnick, and a sister, Helen Guyer.
Surviving family include her husband, Ray A. Breakall, whom she married November 15, 1989. Four sons, Kenneth Bradnick of Fort Loudon, PA, Joel (Sherry) Bradnick of Greencastle, PA, Perry Bradnick of Mercersburg, and Scott (Heather) Bradnick of Chambersburg, PA. Nine grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Cortney, David, Tawnya, JoJo, Miranda, Kacie, and Dani. Nineteen great grandchildren, and two siblings, Kay (Bill) Guyer and Clyde (Carolyn) Bricker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday January 28, 2022 in Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Harry Copen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
