Obituary for Nancy C. Moats (McLucas)
Nancy C. Moats, 80, of Greencastle, PA died November 29, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.
Born at home in St. Thomas Twp., PA, on July 21, 1941 she was a daughter of the late David W. and Minnie C. (Bryan) McLucas.
Nancy was raised, alongside her brother Dave and niece Bertha on the family dairy farm in the Welsh Run area and attended one room school houses throughout Montgomery Township, graduating from James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, in 1960.
Nancy was employed by Stanley Company, Chambersburg, retiring in 1992. She assisted her husband in the operation of Wilbur’s Watches & Gifts of Welsh Run. They enjoyed setting up for the Two Top Steam & Craft Show. Nancy was later employed by Whitetail Ski Resort, Mercersburg, and Home Depot of Hagerstown, MD. She enjoyed bingo and bowling.
Nancy was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Upton, PA, Auxiliary Unit 517, American Legion, Mercersburg, Auxiliary Unit 655, VFW, McConnellsburg, PA and Women of the Moose Lodge 1790, Mercersburg.
Her husband, whom she married in 1961, Wilbur D. Moats, died March 2, 1997. Also preceding her in death were two siblings, Russell L. McLucas and Ethel L. Barnes
Surviving family include a brother, David L. (Shirley) McLucas, Mercersburg, nieces and nephews: Bertha (Ken) Faith, Clear Spring, MD, Stephanie (Nick) Diede, Johnstown, CO, Roger (Jeanne) Barnes, Silver Spring, MD, Gary (Shirley) Barnes and Marlin (Jane) Barnes both of Chambersburg, numerous great nieces and nephews, and her best friend of many years, Kim Sweigert, Greencastle.
Funeral service 2:00 PM Friday December 3, 2021 in Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with Reverend Alan Wilson and Pastor Ronald Faith officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
