Obituary for Lila Lee Amsley

Lila Lee Amsley, 90, formerly of Mercersburg, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Orrstown, PA.
Born September 29, 1932 in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Rankin and Carrie (Sword) Metcalf.
Lila graduated from Mercersburg High School and married Clarence D. Amsley. She worked many years as a seamstress for the J. Schoeneman Clothing Company until retirement. Lila enjoyed spending her time baking in the kitchen and taking care of her flowers. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Lila loved taking road trips with her husband to visit the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.
Lila attended the Greencastle Church of God.
Lila is survived by a daughter, Lila L. “Cookie” (Gary) Stouffer of Greencastle, and a son, Rodney (Leann) Amsley of Edenville, three grandchildren, Travis (Ayako) Amsley, Ryan (Jennifer) Amsley, Shea (Brooke) Stouffer, and five great-grandchildren, Knox and Nash Stouffer, Mio, Ford, and Hank Amsley. Surviving siblings include: Anna Lauer, Betty Bookheimer, Mary Lou Bookheimer, Franklin Metcalf, Fay Musselman, Arthur Boyd Metcalf, and a daughter in law, Phyllis Amsley Drawbaugh.
Lila is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence D. Amsley Sr. (2014) and a son, Clarence D. Amsley Jr. (1992), and siblings: Ruth Landis, William Metcalf, Jacquelyn Doyle, Rankin Metcalf Jr., Thomas Metcalf, and Marlin Leon Metcalf.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Greencastle Church of God with Pastor Floyd Meyers officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
