Obituary for John Melvin Thomas
John Melvin Thomas, 83, of Mercersburg, PA passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born September 8, 1938 in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Winfield and Beulah Harnish Thomas.
John, also known as JT, was a graduate of Mercersburg High School. For 40 years, he worked as a painter for JJ Smith and Sons Painting in Greencastle. JT was a member of the Mercersburg Legion, Mercersburg Moose Lodge, and FOVA Post 655 of McConnellsburg, PA.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Dave) Barnhart of Falling Waters WV, and two sons, Richard (Cindy) Thomas and Shane (Cindy) Thomas, both of Big Pool, Maryland. JT is survived a brother, Robert Thomas of Burnt Cabins, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
JT was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Thomas, and sister-in-law, Teresa Thomas.
There will be no viewing. A private graveside ceremony will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
