Obituary for John William Ebersole Jr.

John William Ebersole, Jr., 76, of Chambersburg, PA died December 12, 2022 at Laurel Lakes Rehab & Wellness, Chambersburg.
Born October 29, 1946 in Waynesboro, PA he was a son of the late John W., Sr. and Cleone (Bingaman) Ebersole.
John was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg. He was employed for 35 years in Customer Service & International Sales at Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, PA.
John was affiliated with numerous organizations: Moose Lodge #842, Chambersburg & held numerous positions as Governor, Treasurer, & Trustee, Keystone #41, Chambersburg; Mercersburg Moose Lodge #1790 where he was Governor for four different terms; American Legion #606, Fort Loudon, PA; American Legion #517, Mercersburg, Mount Pisgah Masonic Lodge, Greencastle, PA. John received his Pilgrim Degree Lodge #842 in Illinois at Moose Heart in 2014. He coached the Yankees for 24 years at the Mercersburg Little League and coached softball for VFW #6219. Member of former VFW #6214 Honor Guard. Past president of Franklin/Fulton County Tavern Association.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to Atlantic City casinos, his children & grandchildren. He was always there to help with any organization that needed his help.
Surviving is his constant companion for more than 27 years, Sara Kitzmiller, four sons, Terry Ebersole & wife Tammy; Tracy Ebersole & wife Christina; John (JW) Ebersole & wife Jamie: and Joshua Ebersole & fiancé Megan. Seven grandchildren, Christopher, Amy, Trenton, Dalton, Landon, Kaitlyn, & Amber. Five great grandchildren, Micalee, Riley, Autumn, Adelyn, & Bryson. Sara’s children, Jeff Kitzmiller & wife Gina; Shelia Pilgrim & husband Tom, Jr. Sara’s grandchildren, Lindsay Pittman, Kelby Kitzmiller & wife Kaitlyn, Gage Pilgrim & wife Elissa; & Justin Kitzmiller. Sara’s great grandchildren, Vamarion and Viondre Hawkins, Marlique Norah, Kenton Kitzmiller, Walker Pilgrim, & Kohyn Kitzmiller. Also surviving are four siblings, Shirley Timmons, Terry Ebersole, Darrell Ebersole, and Bonnie Crabtree & husband Larry.
Sara has been right by his side throughout his illness. Making him as comfortable as could be. John never knew all the things that you needed to do to keep yourself healthy. He would laugh when Sara would tell him “It’s time for your appointment.”
John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Jean Ebersole, a brother, Wayne Ebersole, a brother-in-law, James “Buck” Timmons, a niece Sherry Rhodes, & a grandson, Terry A. Ebersole, II.
Viewing from 5 to 7 PM Monday December 19, 2022 in Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, followed by a funeral service at 7 PM with Pastor Adam Leeper officiating. Masonic Rites will open the service and the service will conclude with the Moose Pilgrim Ritual.
