Janice H. Steiger, 93, of Mercersburg, PA, died January 18, 2023.
Born August 17, 1929 in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Hazel (Trumpower) Heinbaugh.
Janice was a graduate of Mercersburg High School., class of 1947. She married Henry A. Steiger on May 26, 1951.
Janice was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mercersburg, where she was organist for 60 years, sang in the choir, and was involved in the Secret Sisters group. She was a member of the Women’s Club, and for many years served as a Mercersburg Borough election worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, who died October 18, 2014, and two brothers, Clair Heinbaugh and Lynn Heinbaugh.
Surviving family include two sons, John & wife Laurie Steiger of Woodbridge, VA, and Bill Steiger of Tampa, FL. Five grandchildren, David, Leslie, Grace, Anna and Ian, and a great grandson, Owen Carleton.
Funeral service 11 AM Friday, January 27, 2023 in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8 Linden Ave., Mercersburg, with Reverend Warren Heintzleman officiating.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday in the church.
