Obituary for James M. Bradley
James (Jim) M. Bradley, 83, of Greencastle, passed away early morning on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Born November 16, 1938 at home in Montgomery Township, he was a son of the late Ernest and Kathryn Karper Bradley.
Jim worked on the family farm since he was 20 years old. He picked apples, hauled feed, then worked 2 years for the state before he was employed as a road crew member for the Montgomery Township where he worked for almost 40 years until retirement. He enjoyed tending to his animals, butchering, canning, sipping his coffee while sitting on his porch under the shade trees, spending time with his friends and playing card games with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by a son, James P. Bradley of Mercersburg, a daughter, Kathryn J. Bender of Greencastle, three step-daughters, Patricia J. Bradley of Mercersburg, Penny L. Lowans and Paula A. Christy, both of Greencastle. Surviving grandchildren include 3 granddaughters, 1 step-granddaughter, 2 step-grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren, 5 step -great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild, 1 great-granddaughter, and 1 sister.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Darlene M. Smith Bradley (2002), two brothers, and three sisters.
A funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Two-Top Fellowship Church with Pastor Paul Martin officiating, and burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service for a visitation.
