Obituary for Gaye Sigler

Gaye Ann Sigler, 86 of Greencastle, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at her residence.

Born May 11, 1935 in Chambersburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late Glenn Highlands Garnes and Margaret Grace Hege-Garnes.

Gaye attended James Buchanan High School and worked for 48 years at MD Ribbon-Berwick Offray in Hagerstown, MD.

Gaye loved to spend time with her family. She was an avid animal and coffee lover, and enjoyed cooking, crafting, going out to eat, attending church, and socializing. She was known by many as a cat lady and a hard worker. Gaye had an infectious smile and everyone that came in contact with her remembered her. She loved celebrating each of the holidays with family, attending yard sales, and craft shows. She enjoyed numerous TV shows like Law & Order, Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, Gunsmoke, Chopped, and Bonanza. Gaye volunteered at Cauffman’s Nursing Home as a kitchenaid and also at Washington County Humane Society.

Gaye was a member of The Good Shepherd Ministries in Hagerstown, MD.

Gaye is survived by her children, Suzanne M. Hult of Greencastle, PA; Kelly J. Lassen of Mont Alto, PA; Sharon L. (David) Barnhart of Greencastle, PA; Gary E. Gordon; John R. (Sherry) Rodriguez of Windham, CT; and grandchildren Brittany Hult and boyfriend Ryan Seiler of Herdon, VA; Brendon Hult of Waynesboro, PA and fiance Paige Diehl of Schellsburg, PA; Justin (Sarah) Lassen of Grayling, MI; Johannah Lassen of Mount Pleasant, MI; Jillian Lassen of Waynesboro, PA; and Jordan Peck of Mont Alto, PA. Gaye is survived by two brothers, Richard H. (Jennifer) Garnes of Livingston, TX; Robert G. (Beverly) Garnes of Chambersburg, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Gaye is preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Rodriguez (2009) and grandson, Jeremiah M. Lassen (2012).

A visitation will be held Wednesday, 6-8 PM February 23, 2022 at Fries Funeral Home Inc. Mercersburg, PA. A funeral will be held Thursday, 11 AM February 24, 2022 at Fries Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Brown officiating and burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
