Obituary for Carolyn Snyder

Carolyn Benedick Snyder, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2022 in Berlin, MD.

Born October, 2, 1937 in Lemasters, PA, she was a daughter of the late Seth E. and Stella Ommert Benedick.
Carolyn graduated from James Buchanan High School and continued her education by earning a Business Certificate from Chambersburg Business School.

Carolyn worked as an Office Administrator at the Fry Coal & Stone Company in Mercersburg, now known as Agronomy Inc., and later worked as a teaching assistant for the Tuscarora School District. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her free time and took great pride in raising her two children and spending time with her only grandchild.

Carolyn attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for M.M.P. & W. Vol. Fire & Ambulance Co., and was a state officer for FHA while attending High School.

Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Charles Edgar Snyder, a daughter, Laura (Stephen) Piper, and son, Stephen (Mary) Snyder, a grandson, Zachary Snyder, and a sister, Joanne Harmon.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Lee Johnston, Margaret Fries, Miriam Springer, June Kriner, Evelyn Schenck, and Wayne Hissong.

Carolyn will be laid to rest in a private graveside service held with Robert Mentzer at Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, PA.
