Obituary for Barbara E. Neil
Barbara Elaine (Besecker) Neil, age 85, of Fort Loudon, passed on to her Heavenly home
on Friday, December 23, 2022.
Born to Leone Besecker on September 30, 1937 in Philadelphia, Barbara came to Path Valley as a small child and was raised by the Rodeniser sisters.
She was in the graduating class of 1956 from Fannett-Metal High School. That
same year, she married her husband Junior Neil and began married life as a
homemaker. Together they raised seven children of their own and opened their
home to several other children. Barbara never turned away a child in need of a
meal or a place to lay their head.
Barbara was very involved in the church and community organizations until recent
years due to her declining health. While our hearts are hurting from this sudden
loss of the cornerstone of our family, we know that she is safe in the arms of our
Lord.
Surviving family members include her seven children; Karen Williams,
Shippensburg, Eva (Tarry) Swailes, Randall (Vada) Neil, Lisa (David) Perry, Thomas
(Brenda) Neil, Samuel (Michelle) Neil, all of Fort Loudon and Arthur (Judy) Neil of
Warfordsburg, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six step-
grandchildren, and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, the Rodeniser sisters who raised
her, her husband Junior Neil who passed in 2018, and two brothers, Ronnie
Besecker and Albert “Mick” Besecker.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday January 4, 2023 at Carrick United
Methodist Church, Path Valley Road, Fort Loudon, with Pastors Darwin Goshorn
and Philip Foster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carrick United Methodist Church Building Fund,
7003 Path Valley Road, Fort Loudon, PA 17224.
